Rowoon's 6 dramas as a lead actor
In spite of the increasing influence of the online platforms worldwide, in France, Italy, UK, Germany and Europe in general, films and cinema venues are still important, and still a great part of our daily culture and habits. Those of us who love films, go to movie theatres often and gather in cafes to talk about them, we watch original movies with subtitles and are happy to discover Arty films from all over the planet.
We have very prestigious International film festivals: The Cannes film Festival in France, the Mostra in Venice in Italy, the Berlin Film Festival in Germany, the Locarno festival in Switzerland and a lot of medium size festivals all over the country. We are definitely cinema buffs and cinema is part of our ingrained lifestyle.
I discovered Korean films in the Cannes Film festival years ago. For me to discover Korean dramas productions was unlikely. However, online, during the covid times, I stumbled by chance on The King's Affection, on Netflix. Most of us in France discovered Rowoon in that epic Historical drama. Once you have seen him act, there is no going back. I then went to watch his others drama and followed his work since then. His charisma, physical beauty, sensitive acting and versatility is outstanding. He is still young and has to do 18 months into the army, but when he is out in April 2027, I have no doubt he will embark on a fabulous acting path.
Rowoon celebrated his 28th birthday on the 7th of August 2024 and is now focusing on his acting career which I think is a very great move, he has all it takes to become one of the best actors worldwide.
I am convinced that if he follows his own path and makes the right choices (which I think he will, given his abilities as a deep thinker and what he has chosen to do so far), he will probably work Internationally and one day climb the red carpet of the France Cannes film festival.
In 2025 Rowoon's new drama, The Murky Stream, will be released on the 26th of September. It will be his 7th drama as a lead Actor. Just before, on the 17th of September 2025, Rowoon will be at The Busan International Film Festival, the BIFF, where he will present The Murky Stream to the Cinema Lovers.

On the 31st of May 2025, at a fan meet in Seoul,
Rowoon first spoke about The Murky Stream.
"I can't help but talk about 'The Murky Stream'
It's still in post-production right now, and we're working on it very meticulously.
While working on it, I got to see a little bit of the footage, and it was like, It's amazing!
It's going to be a big deal, everyone. Seriously, you all absolutely have to watch 'The Murky Stream.'
I first received the script for this role after 'The King's Affection' ended. That was a long time ago, wasn't it? After receiving it, I had some other projects in between, so I worked on those first. But when I first read the script for this project The Murky Stream, I felt something very strong. It was this powerful feeling of, 'I really have to do this project; I absolutely must do it.'
And what's truly amazing is that I'm usually someone who places great importance on the chemistry between actors, with the director, and with all the staff on set. So, to be able to work with people who are so compatible, both in personality and spirit, like this... it always makes me feel incredibly happy.
Of course, summer is hot, and winter is cold. It can't be helped, right? It's not easy to make it warmer in winter, so you have to understand and just let it pass.
But in the summer, my colleagues, the director, and the on-set staff helped make the environment cool and comfortable. And in the winter, all the fans were there, worrying about whether I'd be cold. It's because of all this that I believe this long 10-month journey was able to conclude successfully.

Director Choo Changmin, who directed the film, said, "I told actor Rowoon that I would take away his greatest weapon, his good looks, but he willingly agreed and has been remaking his face and body. He really worked hard in every scene, every moment." "Every moment, he would say 'I'll try harder' and poured out everything he had," praising Rowoon's passion. Martial arts director Park Youngsik also said, "It was a tiger like a deer. "At first, his eyes are like a deer's, but the way they change in an instant when he explodes was amazing," he said, highly praising his passion and sincerity as an actor for his dedication and willingness to push himself to the limit in the intense action sequences, not sparing his body and dominating the set.

The photos Rowoon shared at the beginning of September on his Instagram account, induce the metamorphosis he has gone through to give birth to his character in « The Murky Stream».
His previous acting contained many scenes demonstrating the capacity he has to brilliantly incarnate very different characters. I believe he takes after the most gifted actors in the history of cinema. That ability to go and search in himself, the infinite complexity of the human soul, to create an outstanding fictional character. I would have loved to watch. The Murky Stream will be released worldwide on Disney Plus on the 26/09/25.

Rowoon somehow, has managed to slide into a completely different self. We forget Rowoon, we see someone else. A truly remarkable interpretation of his character. Beyond the clever make up, his expressionist embodiement of Jang Siyul takes over the screen.

Q. You've previously starred in historical dramas, such as "Wedding Battle" and "Love in the Moonlight," but this is the first time you've showcased such a rough-and-tumble impression. What prompted you to join The Murky Stream?
Rowoon. " I first received the script for
"Murky Stream" after the drama "Love in the Moonlight." Because historical dramas are so long, I wondered if I could do it again, but the script was incredibly powerful. Si-yul's line, "I'm not that kind of guy," drew me to "The Murky Stream." When the makeup test date was set, the director said, "I'm going to take away your most important weapon." When I asked what that was, he replied, "I'm going to take away your good looks." It was the moment I'd been waiting for. Looks are a valuable asset for an actor, but I was questioning how long I could continue acting based on my looks. I was thirsty for change. I didn't want to be consumed solely as the lead in a melodrama, so I was glad the director suggested a change."
